Inner City Brisbane State School

Small School: Big Heart

Our school is precious to us; a green jewel in skyscraper setting.

Our jewel has four facets:
       ♦    Academic Achievement
       ♦    Talent Development
       ♦    Technology
                                                           ♦    Sustainability

Academic Achievement
This comes first; maximising student potential is our central business.

Talent Development 2012
We're small enough to personalise student programmes, with
♦    academic acceleration opportunities through vertical timetabling across school classes
♦    performance goal-setting programmes (introducing our Flipside Circus Partnership 2012)

Technology
We use the right tool for the job. Be it iPads, iPod Touches, or our high laptop ratio, we select the tools necessary to support student learning, and promote links between home and school.

Sustainability
We are serious about making the world a better place for everyone. Gardens can thrive between skyscrapers too, you know, just like happy kids. We continue to embed the concepts of sustainability and the value of good environmental health into our curriculum programmes through our hands-on approach to our productive kitchen garden project.

We have two multi-age classes of students; one from Prep Year to Year 2, and the other from Year 3 to Year 7. Note however, that because we group students for academic ability in different areas of our dynamic programme, we sometimes get Year 1s doing spelling with Year 4s, or Year 7 English Second Language students reading with Year 3s, if that's where students cross paths on their learning journey!

So if you're looking for that school where a learning programme will be tailored to meet their academic and social needs, then you've finally found it.

Website evolution - go to the source!

Our website is, like all websites, maintained by the hardworking staff in school, whose first priority is teaching students. Since our policies and information evolve in response to school needs (and staff availability) the content of this site is sometimes slightly out-of-date. So by all means follow our links for information, however if you are puzzled or have a need to know more, we look forward to your contact through
