General Information

The oval of Fortitude Valley State School has been used for car parking by the P&C committee as a school fundraiser for many years.

· Home Show – March

· 4x4 & Tinny and Tackle Expo - April

· Caravan & Camping Show – June

· Truck Show

· EKKA - August

During each school year the oval is transformed into a parking facility with approximately 400 car spaces for patrons attending the following four events at the RNA Showgrounds. Entry for the Ekka is $15 per space used and all other events $5 per space used. e.g. car and trailer $30 for Ekka. All parking is on a casual basis. Pre-booked spaces are only available to school who are visiting the Ekka.

In order for the fundraiser to be a success the P&C relies heavily upon the help from volunteers including parents, carers and the outside community.

When the above listed events take place, the Fortitude Valley State School P&C Assn. provide a car parking facility for patrons on our school oval. Approximately 400 vehicle spaces are made available through the erection of stakes providing a detailed outline of where vehicles are to be parked.

Vehicles enter the school grounds through the St Paul’s Terrace entrance and are allocated a parking space by volunteers once they have bought their parking ticket/s. Smaller vehicles and motorbikes are directed to the row of specially suited parking spaces, whilst larger vehicles such as 4WD’s, trucks and vans are directed towards the tennis court area and the adjacent back wall.

The access gates next to the railway lines need to be kept clear at all times in case Queensland Rail need to get to the tracks in an emergency.

The row of spaces closest to the entrance fronting St Paul’s Terrace is allocated for disabled drivers i.e. those vehicles displaying appropriate signage.

These spaces are clearly marked by the appropriate signs.

There are also a number of signs in place to indicate correct entry and exits points.

Patrons must abide by the rules clearly displayed on the outside wall of the first shed (also listed on the last page of this document) and must note the correct exiting procedures.

Entry is via St Paul’s Terrace and exit is via Brookes Street. (See diagram on the following page)
