Sports Carnivals

Fortitude Valley State School Athletics Carnival

The children have been training very hard in PE for the two sports carnivals, which will be held in the last two weeks of school. Our carnival will be held at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, Nathan on Tuesday 11 June from 9:00am till 2:30pm.  All parents and family will be invited and we will have Subway there for all to share.  The students will be in two teams; Connor our house captain will be in charge of the green team and Chad will be in charge of the red team.  These colours are the same as our two school shirts because this is the colour of the shirt each team will wear on the day.
On the day, we will travel by bus and it will be leaving at 8:30am to be at the venue for a 9:00am start; please have your children here before 8:30am.
The emphasis of the day is fun and participation but there will be ribbon presentations for each event, a junior boy and junior girl trophy, a senior girl and a senior boy trophy and an overall house trophy.   There will be more information on the day to follow; look for notes in your child’s pocket or bag.

City Small Schools' Track and Field

Mount Nebo school is the host for this year's City Small Schools' Track and Field.

We have set the date which is Wednesday, 19 June and the venue will be Newmarket State School. Newmarket has generously allowed us to use their oval and equipment.  They will also provide us with a menu for their Tuckshop.  Newmarket school does not have any on ground parking but plenty of street parking around the school.

The Track and Field event will be for children in Prep - Year 7.  The 5-9 year olds will participate in Tabloid Sports while 10-13 year olds are taking part in the Field events.

To prepare for this event the students for HPE will be practising track and field events and the tabloid events.  The sports they will be practising are running, long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus.
